A kids’ football team launched off the back of the pandemic are celebrating after netting a kit sponsorship deal that means they can continue to thrive.
Claremont 2015s was launched earlier this year by Paul Cleary and Darren Steel and more than 20 players involved.
The club have been able to enjoy matches on Saturday mornings at Ravenscraig against sides from across Lanarkshire.
And now they have received backing from East Kilbride Autocare and Mobile Tyre Fitting to help them hit top gear in the new year.
Delighted coach Paul Cleary said: “Claremont 2015s was started this year as there was very little sports for this age group over the last year with the stop/start nature of the lockdowns.
“I wanted to start this team as my son and other kids that I knew were struggling to get playing football this year, along with Darren Steel, from Claremont 2013’s, we started the team.
“With a good response we got 26 kids on-board and started to play football.
“Struggling for sponsorship and with little funds, East Kilbride Autocare and Mobile Tyre Fitting Scotland kindly provided much needed sponsorship.
“This has allowed us to provide the necessary kit for the children, to which we were very grateful.
“This start up has had a very positive effect to the kids that have joined this year and we are looking to take on some more kids in the new year.”
Claremont 2015s are due to return to training and matches in January.
