East Kilbride driver caught with knife avoids jail

An East Kilbride driver had a knife in his possession when police officers found him under the influence.

Antonio Curley, 37, of Catacol Grove, was electronically tagged and banned from the road for 18 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted shouting abuse and brandishing a knife in Lickprivick Road in the town on January 8.

Curley also admitted punching a police officer, driving without insurance and while unfit through drink or drugs, and failing to provide a blood sample.

He will be under supervision for 18 months and his tag means he can’t leave the house between 7pm and 7am for 108 days.

He must also enrol on a programme for road traffic offenders and attend mental health services.
