East Kilbride delight as they snap up striker ahead of SPFL clubs

East Kilbride boss Stevie Aitken says it’s a coup to have signed striker Tomi Adeloye ahead of SPFL clubs, and hopes he makes a major impact.

The 24-year-old former Charlton and Millwall hit man i mpressed on his debut by scoring twice in the 9-0 Lowland League demolition of Edinburgh University on Saturday, having climbed off the bench at half-time.

Aitken has snapped up the Nigerian until January, with a view to extending that deal should it suit both parties.

The Kilby gaffer said: “He’s a player that we looked at and had in, we signed him last week on a short-term deal for him to look at us and us to look at him.

“He’s got a great profile, great pedigree, and we’re grateful that he wanted to come up.

“He comes from a good upbringing and has played at a good level, so we’re delighted that we managed to get a deal done.

“There were a few SPFL clubs interested in him but we acted quickly, managed to get a good chat with him and his agent.

“We told him this was a place he could come and play his football, get him scoring goals, get him noticed up here where he’s maybe not known as much, and he agreed to go and do that.

“On Saturday he came on and got his two goals, he’s trained well, he’s looking fit and strong, and he will be a great addition to the squad.”

Should the ex-Ebbsfleet Town star continue to impress, Aitken says an extension could be on the table.

He said: “Initially it will be until January, and we’ve agreed that it could go longer, but we’ve said let’s just wait until January, we’ll sit down and discuss it again.

“He was happy with that, we’re happy with that, so I’m delighted and I’m sure he will make a big impact.”
