East Kilbride dad shot in attempted murder bid is caught with cocaine

A man who was shot in a failed murder bid has been fined £270 after being caught with cocaine.

Scott Davis, 31, was nabbed with the class A substance near his home in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.

He had 12g of the drug worth £240 in his possession.

The dad-of-two was caught by police five months before being blasted by masked gunmen in a flat.

Davis was deliberately targeted in September last year in an attack police ruled as attempted murder.

He later made defiant posts on social media and posted graphic images of his injuries caused by the targeted attack.

After shooting Davis in the leg, the balaclava-wearing duo targeted a friend who was parked outside in a Volkswagen Passat.

Davis has appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted possessing cocaine in April last year.

Andy Thomson, defending, said: "He was the victim of an attempted murder last year.

"He has previously had issues with drink and drugs but seems now to have got his life into some order.

"He is currently unemployed but would be able to pay a fine if that was deemed appropriate."

Sheriff Thomas Millar said: "I will deal with this by way of a monetary penalty."

Police Scotland confirmed the shooting investigation remains open.

A spokeswoman said: "Extensive enquiries have been carried out to trace the two men responsible for these targeted attacks.

"The investigation remains ongoing and we would urge anyone with information to contact Police Scotland."

Anyone with any information can contact police on 101 and quoting incident number 4121 of September 10, 2019 or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed on anonymously.
