East Kilbride crash: Man, 33, arrested after lorry smashes into house

A man has been arrested after a lorry smashed into an East Kilbride house last night has been abandoned in a Lidl car park.

Police Scotland confirmed the 33-year-old's arrest in connection with the late night incident when an Eddie Stobart articulated lorry crashed into the house.

The smash happened at around 11.20pm last night on Lancaster Crescent, causing huge damage to the property.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident."

The damage to the property includes smashed windows, buckled brickwork as well as the roof caving into a bedroom.

Police Scotland has confirmed no-one was injured in the incident, with local residents evacuated from their homes as a precaution.

Speaking of the recently discovered, lorry, a spokesperson for the force said: "This will form part of our ongoing enquiries into this incident. "
