East Kilbride charities and community groups could win £400 worth of flooring in prize draw to celebrate store opening

Charities and community groups in East Kilbride are being encouraged to enter a prize draw at the launch of a new home retailer in the town.

Carpet and flooring retailer Tapi opened a new store in the Kingsgate Retail Park on Saturday.

And, to celebrate the launch, £400 worth of carpet or flooring is being offered up to a community group or charity based in East Kilbride.

To be eligible for the prize draw, entrants should email community@tapi.co.uk by December 13, stating in 50 words or less what difference the flooring will make to their organisation.

Please note the value of carpet or flooring excludes fitting and o rganisations must be a registered charity or recognised community group operating with an address in East Kilbride.

The winner will be announced on Friday, December 17.

The store is the 19th Tapi store to open in Scotland and one of 15 new stores being launched over the next 12 months.

It offers flooring inspiration from experienced team members, including store manager, Kevin Dick, who was part of the management team that opened the first store in Scotland six years ago.

“I’ve worked in flooring and carpets since leaving school and was assistant manager at Uddingston, the first store to open in Scotland. Having managed our branch in Ayr for the past five years, I leapt at the chance to come back to my hometown and manage this new store for Tapi.

"We’re all about helping our customers look at flooring differently and being part of the local community. So I’m really pleased that we’re able to offer this support to a local group or charity and I hope people will spread the word.”

The retailer has managed to maintain the strong ecommerce growth rates it generated during lockdown, which has prompted new store openings to meet demand.

Customers in East Kilbride can now access thousands of great value and industry-leading quality products including carpets, laminate, luxury vinyl, engineered wood and vinyl flooring.

Chief Executive, James Sturrock, added: “It's no surprise that the pandemic has had a huge impact on the way we are using our homes. We’ve completely reassessed what we want from our four walls and now people are seeing the floor as a way of transforming their home.

"Our new store in East Kilbride will allow people in the area to be guided by our flooring experts in-store, as well as through our popular home visit service.”
