David Jamieson says he’s ready for the major title fight that can finally put him on the world rankings map.
The Westwood cruiserweight is headlining Dennis Hobson’s FightZone at Trump Turnberry, in association with Sam Kynoch, on Friday, February 18.
While his opponent hasn’t yet been confirmed, Jamieson is likely to be up against rival Iain Martell – who is undefeated in 11 fights – for the Intercontinental title.
It’s a huge bill that will also feature Commonwealth featherweight champion Nathaniel Collins, welterweight Michael McGurk and Kieran Smith, who has lost just once in 17 fights.

Jamieson, 29, says he’s ready for the big time and hopes to deliver.
He told the News: “It’s looking like an ideal intercontinental title, which is a massive step up in my career.
“This will get me a world ranking and it’s really all angling towards a world title fight against [IBO cruiserweight champion] Jack Massey, really.
“I’m ready for it. It has been a long time in the game, now, so I’m ready for these nights.
“As much as you still get the butterflies in the stomach, this is what we’re in it for, now.
“It’s a massive opportunity at Trump Turnberry; Sam has been running shows there for a few years now and it has always been a venue that I would very much like to tick off the list.
“I’m getting that, and not only am I getting it, but I’m headlining it.
“It’s a serious bill with the four fighters that are on the bill – Michael McGurk, myself, Kieran Smith and Nathaniel Collins, who has the Commonwealth title, so it’s a really good bill, and good value for the punters.
“As hard as we fighters work in the gym, Sam is putting the same work in, in the office, to get us the big fights.
“He lives the life, he’s the most active promoter and I think he has the biggest stable in Scotland as well, around mid-60s in fighters, so he’s making moves and making it happen.”
Recent Covid restrictions have meant competitions are off the table in January, but that should be lifted by next month and Jamieson will be pouring everything into his preparations.
He added: “I cannot wait. What a way to kick off the year.
“Obviously we had that wee bit of bad news; I knew I was going to be out in February, but when the British Boxing Board of Control announced that all competitions would be off in January due to the pandemic you thought ‘oh no, here we go again’ but it’s just a minor stumbling block.
“This is it, it’s ‘go’ time on February 18, so it’s all preparation for that, tooth and nail for the next six weeks!”

Promoter Sam Kynoch said: “We’ll have David Jamieson headlining and we have some really exciting plans for him – he’ll be getting a step up and will fight for a belt.
“There’s been some talk of him facing rival Iain Martell, who’s unbeaten – that will be a good fight and David would fight him tomorrow.
“That’s a fight we’re working towards, but we’ll get him in a testing fight on this upcoming show.
“He will hopefully secure his first title and showcase what he can do.
“David is a very entertaining fighter.
“Fans love the big guys, and when he get an aggressive cruiserweight like him, he’s going to be in a lot of fun fights with his style.”
