East Kilbride boss sets sights on trophy day victory for fans

East Kilbride boss Stuart Malcolm hopes his players give their fans a victory to cheer on trophy day at K-Park.

The Lowland League champions will get their hands on the silverware tomorrow and they will get the party started after hosting title rivals BSC Glasgow in their final home match of the league season.

It will be the second time in three seasons East Kilbride have lifted the title following another runaway success in the 2016/17 season.

With the SPFL play-offs looming, Malcolm’s men are on a 17-game unbeaten run and Kilby are keen to keep the momentum going.

Malcolm said: “We know it will be a party atmosphere in terms of the crowd and it’d be great to get a result for them.

“Getting the trophy visualises our success for the fans, so it will be great for them to see that.

“They’ve been there in all weathers this season, supported us and cheered us on to the title.

“It’s also great for everyone at K-Park. The facility manager there and the staff who have helped get games on and beeen great with us.

“In terms of the players and myself, it will be nice. These guys are the ones who have gone out and done the business and had to listen to me harp on at them, so they deserve it.

“But we know there’s a lot of work to be done yet.”

Kilby beat BSC 3-0 at the Indodrill Stadium back in August and the league's second-place side trail EK by 14 points going into the clash.

However, Malcolm – whose side booked their place in the South Challenge Cup final with a 3-2 win over Hill of Beath at the weekend – isn’t taking anything for granted.

He added: “BSC have a really good side and are more than capable of pulling off a performance and getting a result.

“We are lucky to be in a position where the league is already won and we can enjoy it, but we still want to go out there and play attractive football, put on a performance and build the momentum towards the play-offs.”

Kick-off at K-Park is 3pm. Entry is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions, with free entry for one U12 per paying adult.
