East Kilbride boss Chris Aitken demands a reaction from his players after defeat

East Kilbride boss Chris Aitken says he's looking for a reaction from his players against Dalbeattie Star tonight, after their disappointing 3-2 defeat at home to University of Edinburgh on Saturday.

Caretaker boss Aitken says the result was bitterly disappointing, and that the players owe a reaction in tonight's Lowland League clash not just to him, but for themselves.

Kilby were 1-0 up at the interval thanks to Neil McLaughlin's strike, but found themselves 2-1 down in the second half, and Joao Victoria's leveller was cancelled out by a late winner for the students.

But he told them to get the head up and get on with it when they head into the K-Park clash.

He said: "The good thing about football is there’s always the next game.

“I told them on Saturday ‘don’t feel sorry for yourself’, if you do that and you end up moping about, we’re not going to get anywhere.

“You need to get the shoulders back, the chest out, and meet it head-on, and that’s what we need to do.

“It’s going to be another tricky game, I had them watched on Saturday at Bonnyrigg [2-1 defeat] and by all accounts they did really well, so it’s up to us, and I’m looking for a reaction now from my guys.

“I’m also looking for a reaction for them, to go and say ‘we all had an off-day’ which happens; it happens at every level of football.

“We accept that, but we have to make sure that it was an off-day, that we’ve had it now, and we can go and get a positive result."
