East Kilbride band release their first single of 2021

East Kilbride pop group Single By Sunday have released their first single of 2021 last week.

Single By Sunday released new track ‘Helter Skelter’ on, Thursday, February 25 which will be their new song since May 2020.

The track is a new direction for the band, allowing them to explore different ideas while still sticking to their pop rock influence they have become famous for.

Frontman Josh Ladds said: “We’ve had the ‘Helter Skelter’ track for a little while now, but we just felt that now was the right time to release it.

“We don’t see this so much as a ‘new angle’ but more the fact that we’ve naturally evolved as a band. We still like the bubbly pop stuff but we have also always liked to delve into and experiment with deeper and different styles, especially when playing live.

“There’s nothing wrong with being a little edgier, that’s what we say. The Charles Manson, ‘Helter Skelter’ episode is something that has, intrigued us for a long time. We felt that we were able to put our own spin on it, so we did.”

Much like many in the arts, lockdown and COVID has meant the band haven’t beem able to act as normal.

Gigs and events have been cancelled, leaving the band hoping that 2021 will give them the chance to continue on.

“It’s meant that a lot, if not all of the shows that we had planned for last year couldn’t happen.” Josh said.

“We were due to play six US College shows and we also had another two-week US support tour booked.

“Separate from this, we had bookings for seven open-air festivals and two of our own shows booked in Germany. The ‘listening party’ that we were planning to unveil some new tracks, new merch and a new sound etc, that also had to be side-lined.

“So yes, COVID/lockdown has definitely affected the band. We’re still hoping that some of the dates might just get rescheduled but at the moment it’s too early to tell what’s going to happen.

“As soon as we can, we intend to get back out and tour. We have our usual release schedule for which tracks are going to be released when and where, so that’s our main priority just now.

“We have a UK tour that we are trying to plan for September and everything that was on the cards for last year, we are hoping that they all just get rescheduled but as we say, we just have to wait and see.

“We know for sure that it’s going to be a different type of touring for us, especially when it comes to places like Germany (and the rest of Europe) because of Brexit.”

The new song ‘Helter Skelter’ was released on Thursday, February 25 and is avaliable on all major platforms.
