Jan. 05--An East Garfield Park man was ordered held without bail Sunday after prosecutors said he was kicked out of a nightclub on New Year's Day and then fired into the club, injuring one.
John J. Jackson, 31, was removed from the unidentified club with two unknown males after a fight Thursday in the 3900 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to Cook County Assistant State's Attorney LaShunda Copperwood and court records. The time of the shooting wasn't available from court documents or prosecutors.
As other people involved in the altercation were being removed, Jackson pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot multiple times into the club from outside the door, striking a 33-year-old Chicago man in the left foot, according to Copperwood and county court records.
The injured man was taken to West Suburban Medical Center, where he was treated and released, according to court records.
A witness gave police Jackson's description and he was arrested in the area, Copperwood said.
Jackson had been paroled in 2014, she said.
Judge Joseph D. Panarese called Jackson "a danger to the community" when he ordered him held without bail.
Jackson is charged with felony aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to court records.
