East Fife sack Darren Young after Clyde defeat leaves side stranded at bottom of League One

East Fife have sacked manager Darren Young following Saturday's defeat to Clyde.

The 43-year-old, who grew up in Cambuslang, joined the Fifers in 2017 and last season the League One club announced he had signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2023.

However, he has now been relieved of his duties at Bayview after the 3-1 defeat to the Bully Wee left East Fife five points adrift of their rivals at the bottom of League One.

East Fife announced the news on their social media pages tonight.

A statement read: "East Fife Football Club confirm that we have today parted company with manager Darren Young.

"We would like to put on record out thanks to Darren for everything he has done for the club over the last four years and wish him well for the future."

Young, who played for Albion Rovers and managed the club before leaving Cliftonhill for Bayview, missed out on the promotion play-offs with the club last season.

This term the Fifers have won just three games from 15 outings and losing to Clyde from 1-0 up has proven to be the final straw after a four year tenure.

He exits ahead of a tricky Scottish Cup third round tie away to Banks O'Dee on Saturday.
