East end couple transform garden shed into romantic restaurant for creative date night

A couple from the east end refused to let lockdown get in the way of date night - and turned their garden shed into a romantic restaurant.

Kieron Johnson, 31, surprised his partner by transforming their summerhouse to look like the cabin in the Scottish Borders where they got engaged.

He laid out menu on the table and even put restaurant ambient sounds in the background to make sure his fiancé was fully transported back to Singdean.

There was even a sign outside advising that credit card were accepted and ID would be checked.

Kieron told Glasgow Live: "At the end of last year we got a summerhouse built in our back garden and decided to get it insulated, run electric and make it into a snug.

"Heimlig is the name of the bnb room where we usually stay which is German for cosy and we decided to name our little snug in our garden after that room. That’s where the name of the fake restaurant came from.

"It took me a couple of hours to design and set up and my partner was surprised when he found out and loved it!

"Even though we were only 15ft away from out back door it felt like we were out and really added a bit of fun into the lockdown we’re experiencing."

It sure beats our usual Saturday night takeaway - mind if we pop round once lockdown is lifted? This new opening has gone straight to the top of our restaurant wish list!
