East Dunbartonshire tops list of areas in Scotland that drink the most per week in survey

East Dunbartonshire has been named the area of Scotland that drinks the most, according to a survey.

The region topped the list, with an average of 8.2 units drank in the area per week, according to Babylon, who surveyed 38,806 people from their Healthcheck app to reveal which areas of Scotland consume the most units of alcohol per week on average.

Glasgow was named seventh on the list, with an average of 5.2 units per week - behind Perth and Kinross, East Lothian, Stirling, Aberdeen and Dundee.

North Lanarkshire was placed directly below Glasgow at 5.1 units.

Meanwhile, West Dunbartonshire and South Lanarkshire were named some of the places with the lowest consumption of alcohol per week, at 4.0 and 4.3 respectively.

However, despite consuming less alcohol, West Dunbartonshire is more likely to drink regularly averaging 2.3 drinking sessions per week.

East Dunbartonshire is the area that drinks the least frequently in Scotland, with an average 1.1 sessions.
