East Delhi Riders claim inaugural DPL title

East Delhi Riders emerged victorious in the first-ever Delhi Premier League T20 tournament held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Mayank Rawat's explosive innings, which included seven fours and six sixes, helped the East Delhi Riders post a competitive total of 183/5.

In response, the South Delhi Superstarz faced early setbacks despite maintaining a good run rate, losing key players Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, and Kunwar Bidhuri.

Tejaswi Dahiya fought valiantly for the South Delhi Superstarz, scoring a half-century, but the team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Vision Panchal's brief cameo of 25 runs off nine balls was not enough to turn the tide.

With 26 runs needed off the last 12 balls, Dahiya hit a six in the penultimate over but was dismissed soon after.

Digvesh Rathi's late heroics in the final over fell short, as the South Delhi Superstarz finished at 180/9, losing by a narrow margin of 3 runs.

Earlier, the East Delhi Riders had a shaky start to their innings, losing both openers in the powerplay.

Himmat Singh and Hardik Sharma attempted to stabilize the innings with a 24-run partnership but failed to convert their starts. It was Mayank Rawat who took charge in the death overs, reaching his half-century off just 34 balls.

Supported by Harsh Tyagi, Rawat launched a stunning assault on Ayush Badoni in the final over, smashing five sixes to propel the East Delhi Riders to a formidable total of 183/5.

The thrilling contest showcased the talent and competitiveness of the teams participating in the Delhi Premier League T20.

The East Delhi Riders' historic victory in the inaugural edition of the tournament was a testament to their resilience and the outstanding performances of players like Mayank Rawat, Simarjeet Singh, and Raunak Waghela.
