Whether you're young or older, a Gen Xer, Millennial, or even Gen Zer, you probably have borne witness in some form or another, the iconic scene from the original 'Rocky' movie starring Sylvester Stallone where he runs up the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps. I guarantee you hear the music right now playing in your head as you read through these words.
The scene is meant to showcase Rocky's resilience and persistence and getting into shape before he fights Apollo Creed. Personal growth and training, you know?
So it's somewhat hysterical that someone decided to use the cover of the East Coast's recent mega snowstorm to not only run up the steps, but do so using a side-by-side. And wouldn't you know, they even scored the video with the Rocky theme music by Bill Conti. Moreover, the same side-by-side owner then took the streets of Philly, drifting around City Hall.
I'm not sure any of this is legal, though...
The driver in question appears to be using a Can-Am Maverick X3 two-door, fully equipped with a windshield (pretty important during a blizzard), accessory lights both front and rear, and a spare tire mounted to the back. They also have a heaping load of "Just Ain't Care," to borrow the famous phrase coined by the late Ken Block.
Honestly, if Block was still with us, I'd have said this feels like a thing Hoonigan would've done under his watchful eye. But since he, and Hoonigan, are gone, we'll just toss this up to folks carrying on Block's legacy of hooning whenever the chance arises.
I am interested in whether or not this person will face any consequences, as searching the local newspapers, I haven't seen anything come up in terms of arrests or even that Philly officials noticed. Maybe that's just the spirit of Philadelphia, though? They aren't messing with me, I don't mess with them.
Honestly, I'm for that sort of relationship with my fellow citizens and more folks need to adopt that, as there's too much messing with each other right now.
