East Coast

East Coast

Launched in 2009, East Coast operates high-speed train services along the East Coast mainline, connecting London, the east Midlands, Yorkshire, the north-east of England and Scotland. Owned by Directly Operated Railways (established by the Department of Transport), East Coast runs 155 daily weekday services, carrying 18 million passengers a year. It operates 44 trains – 30 electric and 14 high-speed diesel – and has transformed the route, with increased services, improved frequency and faster journey times. East Coast also manages 12 stations and has staff in 53 more. The company offers employees excellent benefits, including a comprehensive training programme and a reward and recognition scheme.
