East Belfast violent burglary investigated by police

Intruders allegedly threatened an elderly couple on Saturday morning after they broke into a property in East Belfast.

It was reported that shortly after 10am on February 8th, two men, one armed with a knife and the other armed with a machete, had entered a house in the Picardy Avenue area.

The two intruders, both described as in their 20s, were wearing 'work trousers and sweatshirts' with their hoods up.

It is understood both spoke with local accents.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "The pair threatened the occupants, an older couple, with the weapons and demanded money.

"One of the males searched upstairs in the property before both fled with a mobile phone.

"Detectives are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who was in the area and who may have captured dashcam or mobile phone footage."

Alternatively you can call the PSNI on 101, quoting reference 772 08/02/20.
