East Belfast UVF investigation leads to six people facing drugs charges

Six people arrested as part of a Paramilitary Crime Task Force operation earlier today have been charged with a number of drugs offences.

The six people were detained following searches in East and North Belfast, Ards and Newtownabbey by PCTF officers supported by local police.

In a statement issued on Friday evening, the PSNI said that two men aged 32 and 40 have been charged with “being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug and possession of a class A controlled drug”.

They added that two men, both aged 24, have been charged with “being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug”.

One woman aged 46 and a 37 year old man have been charged with “being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug”, the police added.

All are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 18.
