East Belfast property search leads to arrest of 25-year-old

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man after a property search in East Belfast.

The suspect was arrested in McArthur Court on suspicion of theft, common assault and possession of a blade or point with intent.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed that the arrest is in connection with an incident on the Newtownards Road on Saturday morning.

He said: "The arrest is in connection with an incident on Newtownards Road in East Belfast around 2am this morning when two unknown males, one armed with a knife, assaulted a 17-year-old male and stole his mobile phone."

The suspect remains in police custody at this time.
