East Belfast police chase of stolen car leads to three arrests

Three people have been arrested after police pursued a stolen car in East Belfast on Saturday.

The stolen Mini Cooper was eventually stopped on the Castlereagh Road following an 'authorised pursuit' which ended in a collision with a police car.

The 37-year-old male driver failed to stop when instructed to do so by police at The Mount in East Belfast , after the car was reported stolen from Ravenhill Reach earlier in the day.

Two passengers, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were also arrested by police on suspicion of a range of offences.

The 22-year old-woman was interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The PSNI have called for witnesses to the incident to call the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1141 21/12/19.
