A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences following a 'proactive policing operation' by the Belfast District Support Team yesterday.
A quantity of suspected Class A and B drugs, including herbal cannabis, with an estimated street value of around £25,000 were found inside a sports bag.
Inspector Sayers said: "At around 5.30pm yesterday, police officers were on patrol in the Castlereagh Road area of East Belfast and had stopped to speak to a member of the public.

"As they spoke, they noticed a male acting suspiciously nearby. As they approached the male, he dropped a sports bag he had been carrying and ran off."
The sports bag was recovered and after a chase on foot, assisted by a passer-by, the male was located hiding behind a hedge at a nearby property.
Insp Sayers added: "In a follow-up search of a nearby property, smaller amounts of suspected drugs and drugs paraphernalia were recovered.

"The male was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs and possession of Class A and B drugs with intent to supply. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
Police are appealing to anyone who knows anything about illegal drugs or drug dealing in their area to contact them on 101.
