East Belfast brewery to host International Beer Festival

Belfast's first co-op brewery is bringing some of the world's greatest beers and breweries to the city, as part of a new festival to mark five years in business.

In 2014, co-founder and managing director of Boundary Brewing , Matthew Dick, 35, from Belfast, left a PhD and a full-time job as a brewer with technology firm Brewbot, joining six other founding members to start Boundary Brewing.

And now, five years in, they’re throwing a party.

Matthew says: “We’re five years old, so we’re throwing a massive party. Boundary, at its heart, is about sharing things with others. And that’s no different when it comes to celebration!"

Boundary Brewing has asked plenty of the most exciting breweries from all over the world to take part in this festival.

He added: "We’ve invited some of our greatest inspirations and closest friends, and are throwing a ginormous party in an old linen mill, right in the heart of Belfast. And we’ve teamed up with Seedhead Arts to help organise the most enjoyable possible experience possible.”

Jubilate , which runs from the 15th-16th May 2020, will feature 30 of the best breweries in Northern Ireland, Ireland, GB and the United States.

Breweries such as Other Half & Finback (New York), 3 Sons (Florida), Mikkeller (Copenhagen) Galway Bay & Whiplash (ROI), Cloudwater, Deya & Verdant (England), Bullhouse, Beer Hut & Heaney (N.Ireland) will be joined by other breweries to personally pour 2 new beers every session.

Matthew continues: “Jubilate will take place high up in Portview Trade Centre in Belfast, with amazing views out across the city. There will be three festival sessions over the two days, and tickets are £55.

Each guest to Jubilate will receive a beautiful little glass which will allow them to sample some of the best beer in the world. There’ll be no tokens or cash once you’re in. Your ticket is all you need to sample and enjoy the beer at your own leisure.

"Usually you spend about £20 to get into a Beer Festival, and then more than double that again on beer, which may or may not be great. This is world class beer for less than that. We’ve removed the transaction for the customer once you’re through the door.

"This will allow our guests to dander around the beautiful second floor space, in the heart of Belfast, enjoying some of the greatest beer in the world.

"The flow of the space is better. The experience is more comfortable. It’s a bit like a Tasting Menu; just letting the Chef do what they do best. ”
