East Ayrshire now has a lower Covid case rate than neighbours in the North and South

East Ayrshire now has a lower coronavirus case rate than their neighbours in the North and South.

The region's 7-day rate per 100,000 currently sits a 122.9 down from 164.7 when Nicola Sturgeon announced on Tuesday, November 17 that the region would be plunged the region into Tier 4 restrictions.

North Ayrshire escaped tougher measures from the First Minister with a lower case rate of 127.7. That number has decreased further and the region now has a rate of 124.7.

South Ayrshire had the worst case rate in the region more than two weeks ago (171.4) and the area has recorded a dramatic reduction to 124.3.

The latest figures mean that North Ayrshire now has the highest case rate in the region.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran had a case rate of 153.5 two weeks ago and that's currently at 124.8.

East and South Ayrshire are set to exit Tier 4 restrictions on Friday, December 11.
