East Ayrshire Council has said they've had reports of works vehicles emptying grit bins after being filled.
The local authority warned that anyone engaging in this type of behaviour would be reported to police.
Large swathes of East Ayrshire residential streets have become treacherous after snow and frost have compacted into ice on paths and roads over the past few weeks.
East Ayrshire Council posted on Facebook: "We are getting reports of works vehicles pulling up and emptying grit bins as soon as they are filled.
"If you see this happening in your street please get in touch with the vehicle registration number so that we can report to Police Scotland. Thank you."
