East Ayrshire Council raise council tax by almost five per cent

East Ayrshire residents are to be hit with a 4.84 per cent council tax rise it was revealed today.

The local authority's councillors approved the increase that will see Band B householders forking out £49 extra annually, with Band D homeowners paying £63.

The increase of 4.84 per cent is the highest amount recommended by the Scottish Government.

Nearly half (44 per cent) of all East Ayrshire properties are in Band A and those residents will now pay out an extra 81p per week.

People living in the 13,311 homes who get a council tax reduction would receive benefit rises to match the council tax increase

Changes to council tax...

  • Band A residents will pay £42 more;
  • Band B residents will pay £49 more;
  • Band C residents will pay £56 more;
  • Band D residents will pay £63 more;
  • Band E residents will pay £83 more;
  • Band F residents will pay £103 more.
