East Ayrshire Council confirm bin schedule will resume 'as normal' with strikes ending

East Ayrshire Council has confirmed bin collection schedules will resume as normal from today.

Workers have been on strike since last Wednesday but, despite getting back to normal, it's understood that they'll go on strike again for eight days from Tuesday.

A statement from the council reads: "All household waste and recycling collections will resume on Thursday, September 1 as per your normal collection schedule.

"Excess recycling should be placed in bags alongside your recycling trolley for uplift.

"Garden waste bin collections that have been missed during the strike action will be added on to the end of the yearly cycle with an additional uplift in December."

It's unclear at this time if green bins, that were due to be emptied in the last week, will be collected before their next scheduled date to avoid a six-week delay.

However, the local authority did previously say they'd be collected "when resources allow".
