March 03--East Aurora School District families interested in enrolling students in the Dunham STEM Partnership School for the 2016-17 third-grade class are invited to attend an informational meeting from 6 to 7:45 p.m. March 15 at Aurora University.
The free meeting will be held in University Banquet Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.
The presentations will cover the concept of the STEM school curriculum and courses of study and the application and selection process.
The schedule for the evening includes from 6 to 6:30 p.m. a STEM Partnership School presentation, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. a question-and-answer session in English and Spanish, from 7 to 7:20 p.m. an East Aurora parent tour of STEM Partnership School and from 7:25 to 7:45 p.m. an East Aurora parent breakout session.
The presentation will be videotaped and available at stem.aurora.edu.
The STEM Partnership School on the Aurora University campus serves students in third through eighth grades in the East Aurora, West Aurora, Indian Prairie and Batavia school districts. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.
At this time, there are only openings for students who will be third-graders in the 2016-17 school year.
If more East Aurora students apply to the school than there are seats available, a lottery will be held in late April. The lottery will not be open to the public, but will be videotaped and available upon request. Families will be notified in the first week of May whether they were selected. Parents would have to return acceptance notice by May 13.
To apply, a family member must fill out the Parent or Third Adult Survey, which will be available after the parent information meeting.
