Former East 17 singer Brian Harvey has released footage that appears to show his own arrest last month.
The video, titled “Me Arrested”, was posted to Harvey’s YouTube channel and shows Harvey being handcuffed and surrounded by police as he explains that he’s been arrested for “malicious communication”.
He is seen speaking to a friend off-camera, telling them: “They’ve nicked me, mate. Malicious communication.”
He also says to the arresting officers in the video: “These cuffs, man, they’re tight. It’s that top one, man. It’s cutting on the bone.”
The video is understood to show a police callout on 21 March, which followed reports of a man threatening to self-harm.
Harvey, 44, was arrested on suspicion of malicious communication after police performed a welfare check, and he was later released under investigation.
East 17, later renamed E-17, first shot to fame in the 1990s, thanks to a series of top 10 hits, including their 1994 Christmas track “Stay Another Day”.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said in March: “At approximately 18:09hrs on Thursday 21 March, police were alerted to man threatening self-harm. Officers subsequently attended an address in Walthamstow to complete a welfare check. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications.”
“Following a physical assessment at hospital, the man was taken into police custody. He did not suffer any injuries. The man has now been released under investigation.”
