The Earthshaker arcana has returned to Dota 2 for the first time since 2019, and while its comeback has sparked excitement, players aiming to secure this prized cosmetic should be ready for a steep investment.
The “Intergalactic Orbliterator” set is available exclusively through the Cosmic Heroes’ Hoard Treasure, a collection that requires both patience and a fair amount of spending. With its Ultra Rare status and escalating odds system, the Earthshaker arcana is estimated to cost players around $150 on average.
The treasure itself contains 17 items, with Earthshaker’s arcana standing as the rarest prize. Among the lineup are sets for fan-favorite heroes such as Spirit Breaker, Enigma, Void Spirit, Ancient Apparition, Mirana, Zeus, Phoenix, Sven, Crystal Maiden, Faceless Void, Marci, Phantom Assassin, and Lina.
Tinker and Ogre Magi’s sets appear as rare cosmetics, Luna carries the very rare “Leonid Luminosity” set, and the crown jewel is Earthshaker’s “Intergalactic Orbliterator.” Crystal Maiden’s “Narwolf Nebula” set comes with her “Conduit of the Blueheart” Persona, while other cosmetics feature new spell effects and ability icons. Each treasure costs about $3, though prices vary by region.

Valve’s escalating odds system is designed to gradually increase your chances of landing rare items, but the process begins with near-impossible probabilities. The first treasure offers a one in 100,000 chance to unlock the Earthshaker arcana in Dota 2.
Odds then improve with each additional treasure opened: by the tenth box, your chances rise to 1 in 464, and by the twentieth, to 1 in 105. From the 49th treasure onward, the odds plateau at 1 in 17. Community data indicates that most players secure the arcana after opening around 50 treasures, aligning with the $150 cost estimate, though individual luck can swing that total higher or lower.
The treasure also includes a recycling feature, allowing players to trade in six unopened bundles for a new item, which offers only limited relief from the overall expense. Fortunately, duplicates of regular sets will not drop until players have collected them all, making the process slightly more efficient.
Earthshaker’s “Planetfall” arcana was originally locked behind the 2019 battle pass, making this the first opportunity in over six years for collectors to add it to their inventory. Its reintroduction marks a noteworthy shift in Valve’s stance on exclusivity, raising the possibility that other elusive items, such as the IO or the Queen of Pain arcana, might return in future events.
The release of the Cosmic Heroes’ Hoard coincides with the conclusion of The International 2025, a deliberate move that capitalizes on the heightened community interest following Team Falcons’ dramatic championship run. The treasure’s cosmic-themed design reflects this year’s galactic aesthetic, with many sets adopting a vibrant purple style that fits seamlessly into the post-TI atmosphere.

For players who missed out in 2019, this treasure offers a rare second chance to secure one of Dota 2’s most celebrated cosmetics. With custom spell effects, unique icons, and a full character transformation, the Earthshaker arcana remains one of the game’s standout items.
However, prospective buyers should carefully weigh the financial commitment, as acquiring it depends on probability rather than certainty. Some may unlock it earlier than expected, while others could spend well beyond the estimated $150 before finally striking gold.
