Earthquake strikes close to Iranian nuclear power plant

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake has struck near an Iranian nuclear power plant.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) the earthquake struck 10km southeast of Borazjan at a depth of 10km at 3.19am this morning.

The quake came on the same day Iran launched 30 missiles at bases hosting US soldiers and a passenger plane crashed shortly after take-off in Tehran killing 180 people.

The earthquake's epicentre is close to Basher, which has a population of 161,674, in 40,771 families.

There was a similar quake at the end of December.

It is reported to be near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
