Earth, Wind & Fire's saxophonist Andrew Woolfolk has died aged 71, after a six-year health battle.
Andrew died on Sunday April 24 of undisclosed causes, with the band's frontman Philip Bailey taking to his Instagram on Monday to pay tribute to the "talented" Andrew.
Philip said Andrew had been ill over six years as he penned an emotional farewell to the musician alongside a photo of them together.
"I met him in High School, and we quickly became friends and band mates. Andrew Paul Woolfolk was his name. We lost him today, after being ill of over 6 years.
"He has Transitioned on to the forever, from this Land of the dying to the Land of the Living. Great memories. Great Talent. Funny. Competitive. Quick witted. And always styling.
"Booski… I’ll see you on the other side, my friend."
Fans took to the comment section to share their condolences.
One wrote: "I'm so sorry to hear this. What a major part of the EWF legacy", while another added: "Rest In Peace Andrew. Sorry for your lost. Sorry for Our lost. What a musician."
"Condolences to you, Andrew’s family and loved ones, and the E,W&F family", typed another.
A different follower wrote: "Denver is proud that you Phillip, Larry and Andrew added the Colorado flavor to Earth, Wind and Fire. God bless Andrew. Fly away home."
Andrew joined the band Earth Wind & Fire in 1973, their first album Head To The Sky was released that year, and went platinum.
He played the saxophone with them until 1985 and returned in 1987.
Aside from his work in the band, he played the saxophone on Valerie Carter's 1977 album Just A Stone's Throw Away and collaborated with the likes of Twennynine's 1979 album Best of Friends, and Stanley Turrentine's 1981 LP Tender Togetherness.
In 1983 he played on Level 42's Standing in the Light album, and his bandmate Philip's 1984 Grammy-nominated LP The Wonders of His Love and his 1986 Grammy-winning album Triumph.
Woolfolk also played the saxophone on Tracie Spencer's 1988 self titled album and on Phil Collins' 1996 album Dance Into the Light
Andrew was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire in 2000.
In 2017, the talented saxophonist made the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
