
Valued at $1.8 trillion by market cap, Menlo Park, California-based Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) operates as the largest social media company in the world, serving close to 3.5 billion monthly active users across the globe through its Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp platforms.
The social media giant is set to announce its second-quarter results after the markets close on Wednesday, Jul. 30. Ahead of the event, analysts expect Meta to deliver a profit of $5.74 per share, up 11.2% from $5.16 per share reported in the year-ago quarter. Furthermore, the company has surpassed the Street’s earnings estimates in each of the past four quarters.
For the full fiscal 2025, Meta’s EPS is expected to come in at $25.35, up 6.2% from $23.86 reported in the previous year. While in fiscal 2026, its earnings are expected to grow 9.4% year-over-year to $27.74 per share.
Meta’s stock prices have soared 38.3% over the past 52 weeks, notably outpacing the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR ETF Fund’s (XLC) 22.7% gains and the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 12.3% returns during the same time frame.
Meta’s stock prices rose 4.2% in the trading session after the release of its better-than-expected Q1 results on Apr. 30. The company has continued to report an increase in its user base. In December 2024, Meta’s average daily active user count stood at 3.35 billion, up 5% year-over-year. This number further grew to 3.43 billion by the end of Q1 2025. This helped the company report a 16.1% growth in revenues to $42.3 billion, exceeding the Street’s expectations by a notable margin. Furthermore, its EPS came in at $6.43, up 36.5% year-over-year and 23.2% ahead of analysts’ estimates.
The stock has a consensus “Strong Buy” rating overall. Of the 54 analysts covering the stock, opinions include 45 “Strong Buys,” three “Moderate Buys,” five “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.” As of writing, the stock is trading slightly above its mean price target of $724.98.
