Early voting has opened in the South Australian election with a significant number of people expected to take advantage of casting an early ballot.
The South Australian Electoral Commission has established 37 early voting centres across the state which will operate for the next two weeks.
A record 1,266,719 people are enrolled and can vote in the March 19 election.
That's an increase of 5.4 per cent on the 1,201,775 who were enrolled ahead of the 2018 poll.
With COVID-19 still an issue across the SA community, the commission said early voting would provide another opportunity for people to feel safe when they cast their ballots.
Special measures will also be put in place on election day including mandatory mask-wearing at polling centres, social distancing and extra cleaning.
Early voting centres will operate until March 18 while eligible voters who wish to apply for a postal vote have until March 17 to do so.
Between March 17 and election day, anyone with COVID-19, or required to isolate as a close contact, can pick up a voting pack at selected sites and also vote by post.
