Jose Mourinho has told Harry Kane he will make him a winner and the new Tottenham manager already looks to have the system for the England captain to thrive in.
Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son’s pace on the wings gave Tottenham a real threat going forward. It was reminder of their blistering form in the Champions League last season and gave Kane great support.
Kane’s goal means he is now the club’s outright third highest goalscorer of all-time with 175 goals, behind only Jimmy Greaves (266) and Bobby Smith (208).
Mourinho also vowed to bring back the “real Dele Alli” but surely even he would not have predicted he would do it in his first week in the job.
Alli struggled with form and confidence during the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign but he looked a different player against West Ham.

He was outstanding. Alli had a hand in Tottenham’s first two goals and you could see the confidence running back through his body after his brilliant bit of skill for the second goal.
Mourinho gave Alli a big slap on the back when he came off in the second half. It already looks like his man-management is doing the trick.
Four days into the job and Mourinho has lifted a hoodoo that has been hanging over Tottenham for 11 months.
Spurs had not won on the road in the Premier League since beating Fulham way back in January but they ended their away-day blues on a near-perfect start to the Mourinho era.
“How s*** must you be, we’re winning away”, sang the Spurs fans. They were right, West Ham were dreadful. But Mourinho has made an immediate impact.
