Early morning raid on Scots shop as thief demands cash from terrified worker

Cops have launched a probe after an early morning robbery of a Scots shop.

The thief entered the store on Ayr's Prestwick Road at around 8.20am yesterday and demanded cash.

A terrified shop worker handed him less than £100 before he fled in the direction of the town's Woodfield Avenue.

Cops are hunting the robber and have appealed for the public to help.

The suspect is described as being a white man, around 25-years-old, 5ft 9 with a skinny build.

He was hearing a dark hooded top and dark bottoms, with white trainers.

Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, from Ayr CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who was in the Prestwick Road area around 8am yesterday and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.

“If you have any information on this robbery, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1191 of 15 August. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
