Early morning crash on busy Scots road sparks 21-mile diversion for motorists

An early morning crash on a busy Scots road has sparked a 21-mile diversion.

The A75 has been shut down by cops in both directions following an earlier collision.

It's understood accident investigation work is underway between B721 (Cummertrees turn-off) to B7020 ( Dalton turn-off).

Police were forced to close the road in the early hours of Monday morning, August 30.

The collision is affecting traffic between Carrutherstown and Gretna, with a 21-mile diversion currently in place.

Motorists are being diverted from Dumfries, via the A709 Dumfries Bypass Northbound through Lochmaben to Lockerbie, then the B7076 Southbound and the B723 Southbound through Kettleholm, Middleshaw, Hoddom to re-join the A75 at Annan.

It's not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the collision and if anyone has been injured.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
