Early-morning carnage in Hamilton as caravan is engulfed in flames

Emergency services rushed to a street in Hamilton this morning after a caravan was engulfed in flames.

The alarm was sounded on Townhill Road at 1.40am after the blaze took hold.

Luckily, there were no casualties but the fire is being treated as suspicious by the police.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.36am on Thursday, October 17 to reports of a caravan on fire on Townhill Road, Hamilton.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, and crews extinguished the fire.

“There were no reported casualties, and crews left at 2.36am.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a caravan on fire on Townhill Road in Hamilton around 1.40am on Thursday, October 17.

“The incident is being treated as suspicious and enquires are ongoing.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0210 of October 17.
