Early entries revealed for Sony's 2020 World Photography Awards

The World Photography Organisation has released new entry images for the upcoming 2020 Sony World Photography Awards.

Photographers around the world are invited to submit entries for next year's prestigious contest and a selection of the submissions so far have been released, giving a a sneak peek to the competition.

This year entries will be judged across 10 categories and assessed by Claudi Carreras Guillén, independent curator, editor, and cultural manager; Touria El Glaoui, founding director of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair; Katie Hollander, director, Annenberg Space for Photography; Gwen Lee, director, Singapore International Photography Festival and Brent Lewis, photo editor, The New York Times/co-founder, Diversify Photo.

Picture editor and curator Mike Trow will chair the panel for a third consecutive year.

It's free to enter at worldphoto.org and the deadlines are as follows: the last day of each month from June - December, 2019 for the youth competition, November 29, 2019 for the student competition, January 7, 2020 for the open competition and January 14 for the 2020 professional competition.

The jurors will meet in January to debate the work, and the first of the shortlists will be announced on February 4.

Entries so far include this cool perspective in the Natural World & Wildlife category (open competition) by Yung-sen Wu.
