Early Dolores del Rio home for sale in Hollywood Hills

March 27--A Hollywood Hills showplace built in 1926 for actress Dolores del Rio is on the market at $5.295 million.

Retaining many of the original features and updated within the style, the romantic home is a prime example of Mexican Baroque architecture. Hand-forged ironwork, colorful tile, carved stone and Moorish filigrees are among the details.

The massive living room has a baronial fireplace and 15-foot ceilings. The 6,221 square feet of living space includes a formal dining room, an updated kitchen with breakfast area, a den, an office wing and a paneled library.

The master suite contains a sitting room, a fireplace, dual bathrooms, a gym and a terrace for a household total of five bedrooms, three full bathrooms and three half-baths.

The 2.1-acre property, in the Outpost Estate area, has a swimming pool with fountain sprays, a spa and mature landscaping. A 40-foot loggia with arches and original tile runs along the back of the house

Former owners include actor Ken Kercheval of the 1980s television series "Dallas."

Del Rio, who died in 1983 at 77, was a star in the U.S. and her native Mexico in the silent and talking eras. She starred in "Flying Down to Rio" (1938), "The Abandoned" (1945) and "The Lady of the Dawn" (1966), among other movies in her more than five-decade career.

Skyler Hynes of Coldwell Banker is the listing agent.
