It's a what?
A mobile phone.
Is that it then?
Not quite. Normally Adopter shies away from phone envy, shunning the constant attempts by manufacturers to get us to change our mobiles as often as our underwear. But just occasionally something comes along that catches the eye, and the RAZR V3 certainly does that.
Go on then, what's so special?
Hard to believe that until a few years ago if you wanted a moby you had to lug around a brick. Now we've done small, even miniature, the next stop is Jemima Khan thin. Like a credit card on steroids or a post-Atkins iPod, the V3 is just 14mm thick. Weighing in at less than 100 grams, it still manages to pack in all your must-have goodies such as camera, quad-band coverage, Wap and MPEG4 video playback.
All this in a toptastic package?
Fashioned from "aircraft grade" aluminium (no flight manual included, sadly), the V3 cuts a dash like few others. Two screens - one internal - and Motorola's Motomixer ringtone software should further separate you from the crowds, if the swanky design doesn't quite cut the mustard. Add in AOL Instant Messenger, a Wap 2.0 wireless web browser, a USB port and a 2.5in, 262k colour screen and you've pretty much got a computer that's smaller and lighter than your wallet.
Wow or ugh?
Wow, we say. Hard to think of another moby with the elan of the V3, except maybe the Vertu - but then you're looking at the price of a holiday, not to mention all the anti-mugging classes.
When can I get one?
Head down to your PC or high street and prepare to shell out. As with most mobiles, what you'll pay is as long as a piece of string, online outlets quoting anything from £249 to a shocking £599. But if you're prepared to sign up for a contract, the V3 can be yours for nothing - look for the special offers.
