Earl Thomas thought he was headed to Chiefs before Ravens swooped in

Former Seattle Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas thought he was headed to Kansas City before the Baltimore Ravens made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

After nine seasons in Seattle and without a new deal from the Seahawks, Thomas hit the free agent market for the first time in his career.

“I thought I was going to Kansas City on like a two-year deal,” Thomas explained via the Ravens’ website. “And I was just going to bet on myself and hit the market again. And then my agents called me – David Mulugheta and Andrew Kessler – and I talked to them on the phone.

“They said ‘Baltimore has a mega deal for ya’ and I said ‘hell yeah, that’s where I’m going.'”

Thomas said the four-year, $55-million contract satisfied everything on his list of requirements and he plans to return the favor on the field.

Expectations for Thomas will be high for Thomas in Baltimore as he attempts to follow in the footsteps of Ed Reed and most recently, Eric Weddle.

The Ravens play the Seahawks in Seattle this season is what is sure to be a no-miss game, so get your tickets early.
