Eamonn Holmes' sweet tribute to wife Ruth after Gogglebox drama

Eamonn Holmes shared a touching tribute to wife Ruth Langsford as he put the Gogglebox fall out to one side.

He posted a cute picture as she cuddled up on the sofa with their pet dog Maggie slapping a soggy kiss on her cheek.

The 60-year-old and Ruth stayed in front of the TV on Sunday after a difficult few days.

The host is trying to put a controversial weekend out of his mind after he called out Channel 4 for how they edited his appearance on the show.

Eamonn and Ruth, who both appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox together on Friday evening ,received a sincere apology from bosses on Saturday.

He accused them of "cruel" editing as he took to social media to slam the show - but said on Saturday the matter was now closed.

In a sweet tribute to his wife, Eamonn added a pink heart emoji, before writing: "Love is ….."

Eamonn and Ruth regularly share sweet photos with border collie cross Maggie, who they adopted from the Uxbridge Dogs Trust Centre in 2011.

The Northern Irish presenter was likely enjoying the downtime, after a sleepless night on Friday evening, following the controversial episode of Gogglebox.

During the reality show, Eamonn and Ruth were filmed watching an episode of BBC's Ambulance, which showed a young boy calling an ambulance for his father by the roadside.

Resulting in a number of outraged tweets from viewers, Eamonn appeared to make light of the heartbreaking scene.

In reality, the This Morning presenter claimed the scene reminded him of his own dad's untimely passing, as he suffered a sudden death while on a car journey.

Taking to Twitter, he demanded an apology from Gogglebox, saying: "In reply to a number of complaints .... I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a Heart Attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR . Idiotic and cruel edit."

Eamonn stayed up until the early hours, responding to messages of support from his fans on Twitter.

Yesterday, Gogglebox issued an official statement of apology, with a spokesman saying: "We have apologised to Eamonn over what happened in this week's episode. We understand and respect Eamonn's feelings on such a deeply personal story.

"We have taken the decision to edit the episode for future repeats and All 4. We look forward to working with Eamonn and Ruth for the rest of the series."

Happy to accept the apology, Eamonn shared a photo of it over Instagram, grateful to put the issue to bed.
