Eamonn Holmes' surprise at odd crime wave in his local neighbourhood- including a mysterious tree feller

Eamonn Holmes has admitted that whilst spending more time at home he's becoming caught up in his local neighbourhood watch, and he's spotted some surprising events.

The TV broadcaster has been battling chronic pain for the last number of months due to three discs out in his back which has left the presenter in agony.

Having updated fans on Monday with some positive news about his progress, the Belfast man says he's gone backwards again and revealed the pain is still severe.

Eamonn told his Instagram followers: "I thought I was turning a corner yesterday, thought I was getting better but don't feel good today. Today's not been a good day."

And whilst the star is laid up at home, he's said he's been left surprised at the goings on in his neighbourhood, including crime and a 'phantom tree feller'.

He explained: "As I sit at home I'm becoming involved in the neighbourhood watch , you would not believe what goes on where I live.

"So I live in a really nice area and basically we've had cars stolen last night, we've had dogs stolen and worst of all, you'll not believe this, we've got a phantom tree feller. So someone for the last two weeks has been cutting trees down all around the place and they do this about 4'oclock in the morning!

"And I grew up in Belfast I thought I'd seen it all but no, trees cut down at 4 in the morning and then someone runs off leaving them lying in the street."

Eamonn was showcasing his latest gadget in the video for recording on his phone which led him to talk about another gadget he purchased recently, which he described as 'the worst bit of tat I've ever seen'.

He said: "I do like gadgets and I did order these variable focus glasses where you turn a screw and it means you never need to get new glasses again because you just adapt these to your vision and they were the biggest load of crud I have ever bought.

"I'm sorry I even sent them back because I don't think I'll ever get a refund on them and they were quite expensive, they were 69 quid.

"So I've sent them back, nothing's happened but they were the worst bit of tat that I've ever seen in my life."
