Eamonn Holmes stuns followers with very different look in throwback tennis snap

To celebrate the conclusion of this year's Wimbledon Championships Eamonn Holmes shared a rather chic-looking nostalgic snap of himself on the tennis courts.

The 62-year-old took to Instagram to publish the unseen 'circa 1980' shot, in which the presenter donned a stylish Adidas polo shirt and typically tiny shorts for the time.

GB News presenter Eamonn captioned the post: "Circa 1980... Maybe I could have been a contender if I'd have stuck at it. What a day to play. Scorcher."

Fans and celebrities were clearly impressed with what they saw, with Eamonn's wife Ruth Langsford quipping: "Have you still got those shorts?!

Broadcaster and journalist Vanessa Feltz commented: "You are still hot hot hot."

His former GMTV co-host Anthea Turner, with whom he once endured a bitter feud, added: "Freaking hell mate!"

And actress Laila Rouass said: "Oh Eamonn. Now I'm really hot and bothered."

The shot clearly caused a stir amongst countless female fans too, meanwhile, with one declaring: "Oh my word. What a dish. You handsome devil Eamonn Holmes."

Another wrote: "Look at those smouldering Irish eyes!"

A third said: "Absolutely gorgeous Eamonn wow."

Several users went on to compare the telly legend's looks to another Belfast-born Northern Irishman in George Best, with one adding: "Now that’s a doppelgänger for the late legend and great man George Best! What a shot."

Eamonn has endured a topsy-turvy six months since it emerged he was leaving ITV ’s This Morning after 15 years as a regular host.

Since then he has joined GB News on their breakfast show, almost had an emergency back operation and launched a new BBC cookery show with contestants who have since become close pals.

The star then won his first major award since making the move and wasted no time blasting his former channel after the victory.

During his acceptance speech, the TV star gave a warning to Good Morning Britain - telling the ITV show he and GB News were "coming for them" in the ratings war.

Speaking after collecting his honour on stage, Eamonn took a swipe at former employer ITV - branding their press office "ministry of lies" and claiming he has never slagged them off, merely "set the record straight."

Eamonn later discussed his ITV departure exclusively with Mirror Online, adding: "I wish somebody would show me the email or the letter or that I was sent to say, ‘Eamonn, this is why this is coming to an end’. But to tell lies, that I left them to go to GB News...I didn’t – they left me. Let’s get it straight. They left me. I don’t care, because our audience is only up."

A spokesperson for ITV previously said: “This isn’t a version of events that we recognise and as we have said before we wish Eamonn all of the very best.”
