Eamonn Holmes slams 'difficult people working in TV' after This Morning axe

Eamonn Holmes has laid into people who work in TV, branding them "difficult", fresh from his This Morning axe.

Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford were axed from the show last year and replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Learly.

The presenting duo, who had starred on the show for 14 years, will now only be used for holiday cover instead of their usual Friday slot.

The pair were said to be "blindsided" by their replacement, and Eamonn has now hit out at people who work in television and do not understand it like he does.

He told the Talking Success podcast: "Television is the easiest thing you’ll ever do in your life, made difficult by people who don’t understand it or who want to seem important because if they suddenly say, ‘No, no, no’ they’re important.

“It never ceases to amaze me how few interviewers take the time to talk to their guests.

"Some will say you don’t want to shatter the illusion or you want to keep the interview fresh."

He added: "Believe me, I can feign fresh."

The Mirror contacted a representative for ITV, who declined to comment.

Eamonn and Ruth were said to be "furious and upset" about the axe when it was revealed by The Mirror.

But it was reported they have been warned not to speak out over their unceremonious sacking from This Morning or risk losing more work.

A source told  The Sun on Sunday:  “Ruth and Eamonn are obviously upset and feel humiliated about being put out to pasture.

“But they’ve been advised to keep schtum or risk losing more work.

“It could damage their brand if they lash out.”

It was also alleged they plan to front a rival show on a different channel if they are handed their notice.

A TV insider told  Heat:  "They are now planning their own TV talk show to rival This Morning, hopefully on the BBC or Channel 4.

"They've had lots of offers from TV companies who are keen to snap them up, and neither of them are afraid to start a TV war, just like Richard and Judy did when they went to Channel 4.

"Still, they're really angry with how they have been treated."
