Eamonn Holmes slams 'delusional' Phillip Schofield in fuming reply to 'toxicity' statement

Eamonn Holmes has slammed Phillip Schofield, branding him "delusional" in a fierce response to a statement released earlier today.

Eamonn's former colleague shockingly resigned from ITV over the weekend after he admitted to an affair he had with a younger male This Morning runner.

In a shocking statement on Monday morning, Philip slammed those who claimed there was 'toxicity' backstage at This Morning, accusing them of holding grudges, reports the Mirror.

Eamonn has since slammed the response, calling Philip "delusional", adding that he had "picked on the wrong person" if he was "looking for a fight".

In a post on Twitter, Eamonn wrote: "Schofield has just put out a delusional statement.

"Like Holly he puts it on Insta Stories so if it goes wrong there is no record after 24 hrs. I'm reluctant to give the liar any more publicity but believe me Pip if u r looking for a fight , u have picked on the wrong person!"

In a statement posted on Monday, just 15 minutes before This Morning aired, Philip released a statement on social media where he said he was "free" to speak out now he no longer worked on the show.

"Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it’s the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice," he said.

"This Morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity. You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like. But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it IS a family of wonderful, talented, kind and hardworking people."

Phil’s confession about his affair has rocked ITV.

An ITV spokesperson said in a statement following his announcement: "We are deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit made tonight by Phillip Schofield. The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. Philip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.

"We accept his resignation from ITV and therefore can confirm that he will not be appearing on ITV as had previously been stated."
