Television presenter Eamonn Holmes has shared a candid update on his health after being rushed to the hospital following a recent fall at home, revealing a painful setback in his ongoing recovery journey.
The 64-year-old broadcaster, who has been battling chronic health issues since undergoing back surgery in 2022, took to Instagram on Thursday to update fans. He posted a selfie wearing a black cowboy hat and explained that he was experiencing a “flare-up” in his head and neck muscles after the fall.
“Howdy Pilgrims… My Head and Neck muscles have been having a flare-up since my fall,” Holmes wrote. “Been prescribed a day of watching Westerns to help recuperate. On my list: Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma, John Wayne in Red River, and Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves. It’s medicine—honestly! Feeling better already—Ouch!!!”
According to the Daily Mail, the recent health scare occurred earlier this month when Holmes was taken to the hospital in severe pain. He had previously posted a photo from the back of an ambulance after falling in his bathroom, thanking paramedics for their assistance.
Holmes’ long-standing mobility issues began after his 2022 surgery, which led to complications affecting his spine and walking ability. In 2023, he underwent a spine and neck stretching procedure, but continues to rely on a walking frame and wheelchair as part of his rehabilitation.
Despite these challenges, Holmes remains upbeat and determined, frequently sharing moments of his recovery with fans on social media. In a March post, he opened up about living with chronic pain and expressed gratitude for his family’s support.
“It’s not just my pain; it affects everyone around me,” he previously said, noting how his loved ones have stepped in to help with day-to-day tasks as he continues to heal.
Meanwhile, his estranged wife and television personality, Ruth Langsfor,d also recently faced a health setback. She was forced to cancel a planned QVC appearance after being struck down by a stomach bug, according to reports.
As Eamonn Holmes navigates yet another hurdle in his ongoing health battle, fans have praised his resilience, humour, and openness. Whether he’s sharing recovery tips or indulging in Western movie marathons for “medicine,” Holmes continues to face adversity with a smile.
His story is one of determination and perseverance, proving that even in pain, a little optimism—and a good film—can go a long way.
