Eamonn Holmes shares fears Piers Morgan will quit breakfast TV in near future

Eamonn Holmes has hailed controversial Piers Morgan the “saviour of breakfast TV” but fears he could quit at any time.

The former GMTV host said ITV’s Good Morning Britain had been “going down the drain of vanilla blandness” until Piers joined.

But Eamonn said his ITV daytime colleague, 55 – who co-hosts with Susanna Reid – could easily walk away from the high-profile gig.

He said: “He came there and shook it up.

"He was the right man in the right place at the right time.

"And so far, so good.

“But the thing about Piers, and probably why a lot of people watch him, is you don’t know how long it’ll last, you don’t know how long he will last.

"You don’t know when he’ll have had enough or whatever.”

Earlier this year, the outspoken host confirmed he had signed a contract running into 2021.

Eamonn, 60, also praised BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker.

He told journalist Rodney Edwards on the Human Nature podcast: “I’m somewhere between Dan and Piers.”
