In news that has shocked the TV world, Eamonn Holmes is set to quit This Morning for a job on GB News.
Former GMTV host Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford have been on the ITV daytime show for years now, with them said to be completely blindsided by producers' decision last year to give their regular Friday slot to the new presenting partnership of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.
Bosses revealed that Eamonn and Ruth would be given the job of filling in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby when they're on holiday and that's what they've done numerous times so far this year, with fans lapping up their extended seven week stint at the helm of the daytime programme over the summer.
But now reports are claiming that Northern Irish broadcaster Eamonn, who has been plagued with chronic health problems this year, is ready to walk away from hew This Morning sofa for pastures new, by taking up a position on GB News, the digital channel that launched earlier this year.

Sources say that Eamonn will be given his own show, which will air a few times every week, with an insider saying: "Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era. He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV. All good things come to an end.”"
Current presenters on GB News, which was launched by regular This Morning guest Andrew Neal, include Dan Wooton, Kirsty Gallacher and, veteran ITV News broadcaster Alastair Stewart and former BBC News host Simon McCoy.
Eamonn praised GB News after its debut ruffled a few feathers, saying: "We need a shake-up on the news front. I have huge respect for TV news but this is a reminder news is not just Westminster or a constant woke agenda.”
It is thought that Eamonn's departure from This Morning will have a knock on effect on other half and presenting partner in crime Ruth, who is also a regular anchor on ITV talk show Loose Women.
